NGO Overview, Mission, and Purpose: What We Are About, Who We Help and How Me Make an Impact

We’re determined to end malaria deaths in Africa by 2015—and we’re helping the world get it done. Malaria No More leverages high-impact awareness campaigns to engage the world, global advocacy to rally leadership and strategic investments in Africa to accelerate progress, build capacity and save lives. Malaria No More is working to make sure that every family in Africa has ready access to the tools they need to prevent, diagnose and treat malaria. We achieve our goal by delivering lifesaving solutions such as mosquito nets and vaccines such as our work Okiavango that increased the number of protected people per house hold from 9.4% in 2007 to 91% in 2009. Malaria No More joins with African leaders in all sectors of society to engage audiences with a locally-driven message and change the way African families think about malaria. NightWatch is a communications campaign that airs nightly in malaria-endemic communities across Africa at 9 p.m., when the malarial mosquito comes out to bite. From international music icons to local sports heroes, key celebrities are joining the program. Malaria No More has partnered with the Alliance for Malaria Prevention (AMP) and MACEPA to help equip the National Malaria Control Programs of 32 countries with the knowledge and tools to plan and execute aggressive mass net campaigns. Malaria No More is shining a spotlight on malaria to engage people worldwide, raise awareness about the disease, and show how everyone can be part of the victory against malaria.

Why You Should Join Us...

A contribution to Malaria No More is an investment in our bold but achievable goal: to cover everyone at risk of malaria in Africa with a mosquito net and to sustainably end malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.
Malaria kills more children in Africa than any other single disease — one child every 45 seconds — but it doesn't have to be this way. Malaria is preventable and treatable. Thanks to a new generation of effective nets and medicines, plus on-the-ground successes, increased political will in Africa and significant new global funding commitments, the world is better positioned to defeat this deadly disease today than any other time in history. Malaria No More is making life-saving investments in the form of mosquito nets and innovative malaria education campaigns in Africa. In the United States, we are engaging the public through groundbreaking awareness campaigns and rallying political leadership to continue their crucial support of the malaria fight.
