NGO Overview, Mission, and Purpose: What We Are About and Who We Help

Amnesty International is devoted to empowering and protecting all individuals who seek to make the world a better place. We are protectors of human rights, defenders of democracy, and as such our vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in international human rights agreements. Our advocacy network spans from doing simply office work and letter writing to being a protestor organizer and agency representative. We devote ourselves to research and action that is focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights. Our work, database, and activism is never ending and as such we devote ourselves to helping every oppressed/ignored individual in order to make the world a better place.

NGO "Bottom Line": How We Make an Impact

Amnesty International Handout!

As the largest and longest serving human rights advocate institution, we are constantly leaving our mark throughout the world. We are a beacon of hope to all people who believe themselves to be insignificant because of an oppressive government brainwashes them to believe so. We help shine light on cruel, villainous actions that often go unnoticed in the pace of everyday life. We say the unsayable, do the undoable, and reaffirm the rights which every sovereign state must give to its citizens. Through our actions we are able to liberate innocent activists and individuals from prison. We save individual from falling into the depths of torture and literally save the lives of people by rallying for them and demanding their release.

However, we do not simply advocate and save individuals from prison. Amnesty International makes it its mission to educate all people and enlighten them on the trespassed on humanity that occur on a daily basis. We pride ourselves knowing that we are breading a new generation of activists and human right protectors who will battle for humanity, no matter what the cost is. We show the world a side it has never been exposed to and ignite critical debate around the world for how acts against humanity ought to be discovered. On the whole, Amnesty International makes the world a better place by slowly but surely eradicating inhumanity from the face of the planet - we invite you to be part of the impact we are making on the global community.

NGO Organization Details and Location: Headquarters and Global Outreach:

With over 3 million members around the globe, Amnesty International is one of the largest human rights organizations. Whether it be in authoritative North Korea or democratic Portugal, we have members in every country, on every continent. With an army of supporters we are constantly on the watching those who trespass on basic and human rights of individuals. If we see a discrepancy between justice and fairness, we act. We organize protests in a heartbeat, demand government action in a whim, and meet with foreign heads of states and key government figureheads frequently in order to problem solve and bring action to trespasses on human rights that happen at home and abroad. Our dedication to the people of this world is complete. Neither snow, nor sleet, nor dark of night prevents us from moving forward in our endeavor to aid all of those who are ailing at the hands of oppressive regimes.
